Policy context
The October 30, 2026 Federal Register notice announces draft interim guidance for certain peptide bulk substances under section 503A. Draft guidance is nonbinding; it is not drug approval, a permanent 503A bulks-list decision or a section 503B pathway. HHS may reconsider enforcement policy as safety or quality information changes.[2][4]
Outside these specifications: ipamorelin (including acetate), copper tripeptide-1/GHK-Cu, CJC-1295, GLP-1 medicines and multi-active blends.[1]
FDA retains safety concerns in its withdrawn-nomination records for BPC-157, CJC-1295, injectable GHK-Cu, ipamorelin acetate and thymosin beta-4 fragment. Withdrawal of a nomination is not a safety clearance. Ipamorelin acetate also appears in the separate 503B category 2 record. Route-specific uncertainty and limited human data still matter.[5]
Evidence record
- Product and route
- The cited trial used intravenous treatment after bowel surgery.
- Approval scope
- The reviewed FDA record identifies no approved ipamorelin product.
- Mechanism
- A ghrelin-receptor agonist.
- Evidence
- A randomized postoperative-ileus trial did not show a significant efficacy advantage.
- Limits
- That setting does not establish anti-aging or muscle-building benefit.
- Safety context
- FDA flags safety uncertainties for injectable ipamorelin.
A reading exercise
When a figure appears on a page about ipamorelin, write one sentence describing only what its marks and labels show. Then write a second sentence describing what you wanted to learn from it. The distance between those sentences is your next reading question. As a practice exercise, sketch two fictional sets of dots with the same center but different spreads. A display showing only their centers would leave that difference unresolved. Return to the actual figure and list which details it includes and which it leaves out. Use its caption to refine the list, keeping unanswered questions visible.
Questions to take away
- What can you describe directly from the figure's marks, labels, and caption?
- Which question you brought to the figure remains unanswered by those elements?
- What additional display would help answer that question without changing the underlying observations?
