A reading exercise
Use two different marks while reading about tesamorelin: a circle for a recorded observation and a square for a prediction. Start with just one paragraph, and place a question mark where you cannot tell which is intended. For a forecast, identify the starting information, the future point it addresses, and the assumptions connecting them. For an observation, look for when and how it was recorded. Now read the paragraph again using those distinctions. A useful final note separates what the source reports happened from what someone expects to happen, without turning the expectation into a result.
Questions to take away
- Which words tell you that the statement is a prediction rather than an observation?
- What assumptions connect the starting information to the forecasted future point?
- Where does the paragraph leave the difference between recorded and expected results unclear?
